First off, before I say anything else: THANK YOU to everyone who shared both of my new music videos! You guys are awesome and I'm so stoked that everyone liked them. :D
Now, what I came here to tell you: no, your eyes do not deceive you! I said LIVE SHOWS. Really, truly, honestly, live, in-person, flesh and blood shows with sounds that will come out of my face and go directly into your heart. I want to start performing live again after a long hiatus and I will be ready to do so by summer/late spring (just need to save up for a new PA and I'll be ready to roll). But I'm going to need your help, so read on...
Although I've had wonderful experiences at places like the Vault and Katz Alley, I am well aware that my music is not the most appropriate soundtrack for a bar or traditional venue. It's kind of arty and melancholy and hard to dance to, and just really not the best backdrop for doing shots and trying to grind on an attractive stranger. I will own that.
However, based on how much fun we had at my album release party--which took place at the house of Maria Sweet's Dani Maltzman--I would say my music is entirely appropriate for house concerts, which are "musical concerts that are presented in someone's home or apartment, or a nearby small private space such as a barn, apartment rec room, lawn, or backyard."
You heard me right: I want to play in your living room. Or your garage. Or your backyard. Or even your unexpectedly spacious bathroom. If you provide a place to do it and at least 15 people to spectate, I will come perform a 45-60 minute donation-based set for y'all. As host, there is no cost to you, and you will also have the option to create the setlist (with songs from Fen, Umbellu, and a few covers I'll have in my repertoire). Now this will currently only be available to folks who live on the West Coast, but who knows? If it goes well, maybe I'll be able to branch out further. :D
I promise it will be fun and groovy and mellow, and afterwards we can eat snacks and listen to records and talk about how music used to be so much better before THESE DAMN KIDS. And perhaps most lovely of all (I think), you will be supporting an independent musician who loves making music and would love to be able to do it full-time.
So in summary, if you:
- Live on the West Coast
- Have a place appropriate for a low-key musical performance
- Have roughly 15 or more friends/family members
- Love hearing live music and supporting musicians
- Enjoy fun, frivolity, and/or merriment in all its forms
Then, please, contact me for more info! I would love to play for you and your friends (and see the inside of your house).
